Minutes

Present:  Alan Hurst, Shawn Mullen, Jeremy Hall, Dan Roy, Hannah Monahan, Deb Mckinney, Cheryl Dougherty, Tim Adams, Jessica Rurka, Dick Edmonds.  

Call to Order:   Deb Mckinney called the meeting to order.  

Approval of the minutes of the January 3rd Regular Meeting
Tim Adams motioned to approve the minutes.  Cheryl Dougherty seconded the motion.  All approved.   

Audience of Citizens:  None

Communications:  Jeremy Hall shared a copy of the letter going out to local businesses regarding the 250th anniversary of East Hampton.  

Unfinished Business
  • Seamster Park Playground Fundraising opportunities/updates
  • February, March & April Events
Hannah Monahan summarized the fundraising efforts coming up in the next few months.  
  • Skate Park/new ideas:  Nothing at this time
  • Spring Programs
Shawn Mullen gave a report on the status of Spring Programing.  Most offerings are posted to the website and are ready for signups.  

New Business
  • Boat Launch Replacement
Jeremy Hall discussed the boat launch and it’s need for replacement.  The cost of the project would be approx.. $28,000.  This will likely need to be pushed back until after the summer season.  
  • Kayak Rental Slips at Sears Park
Jeremy Hall is looking into possibly installing a rack system for people to rent storage spaces for kayaks at Sears Park.  
  • Concession options at Sears Park
The Department is looking into options for concessions at the park.  Possibly contracting it out to a local vendor.

Director’s Report
  • Budget report
Jeremy Hall discussed the status of the Parks and Recreation Budget.  The Parks and Recreation Department is coming in with around a 2% increase which covers staff wage increases and the increase in minimum wage.
