Board Members Present:  Rich Norkun, John Wright, Dan Roy, Deb Mckinney

Also Present:  Director; Jaime Krajewski, Program Coordinator; Shawn Mullen, Board of Finance Liaison; Alan Hurst

Call to Order:  Rich Norkun called to order the April 7th regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  

Approval of the minutes of the March 3, 2015 Regular Meeting:  Deb Mckinney motioned to approve the minutes.  John Wright seconded.  All approved.  

Audience of Citizens:  None

Communications:  None

Director’s Report:  Jaime Krajewski gave a report on Parks and Recreation operations.  Shawn Mullen gave a report on Parks and Recreation programming.  

Unfinished Business
  • Summer 2015 Staff
The hiring process has started for the 2015 Summer staff.  Interview will be completed for all positions April 17th.  
  • Board vacancies
Rich Norkun updated the board on the open positons.  Two new applicants have submitted and will hopefully be appointed soon.  
  • Wesleyan Sailing
Jaime Krajewski has a signed agreement in place for the season.  
New Business
  • Special Revenue Fund
The status of the Parks and Recreation special revenue fund was discussed.  Deb Mckinney motioned that the Parks and Recreation advisory board will draft a letter to Town Council with their thoughts on this issue.  John Wright seconded.  All approved.  
  • Sears Park beach plan
The problems with the beach at Sears Park were discussed Jaime explained the situation and some possible solutions were discussed.  A plan with the public works department is being worked on.  
  • Skate Park status
Improvements are being made to the skate park.  
  • Community Gardens
The Parks and Recreation Department is working on possible locations for a community gardens project.  The main issue is location.  

Other Concerns:  Rich Norkun is concerned with the entrance to the skate park.  Jaime Krajewski will look into it.
