Present:  Vice Chairperson; John Wright, Tim Adams, Mark Vickery, Dan Roy.  
Also Present:  Director; Ruth Plummer, Program Coordinator; Shawn Mullen

Call To Order: John Wright called to order the September 4, 2012 Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  

Approval of the minutes of the August 7, 2012 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board:  This will be tabled until the October meeting.   

Audience of Citizens:  None

Communications
  • Draft survey for recreational needs  - Board members should bring suggestions to the meeting.
The survey was discussed and all board members were given a copy.  
  • Ribbon cutting flyer
The flyer was discussed and everyone was given a copy.  

Director’s Report: Shawn Mullen gave a report on the status of Fall and Winter programing.  

Unfinished Business
  • Governor William O’Neil Performing Arts Gazebo update
The gazebo is near completion and looks great!  
  • Survey for recreational needs
Shawn Mullen has completed the survey and will arrange distribution of the survey with the Fall and Winter Brochure.  
  • Gazebo use policies and procedures
This will be discussed further in the October meeting.  
  • Potential properties for parks
Ruth Plummer is looking into a possible property at 140 Colchester Avenue.  
  • Sears Park improvement project – storm water runoff remediation
An alternate is being added to construct an access road to the Boat Launch as per the approved site plan.  

New Business
  • Open Space at 140 Colchester Avenue
Ruth Plummer is looking into this space as a possible park location.  

Other Concerns:  Nothing at this time.

Adjournment:  Dan Roy motioned to adjourn the September 4, 2012 Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  Tim Adams seconded the motion.  All approved.
