  • Draft survey for recreational needs  - Board members should bring suggestions to the meeting.
The draft of the survey was discussed and suggestions were made.  Shawn Mullen will revise the survey for the next meeting.

Director’s Report:  Ruth Plummer gave her Director’s Report.  Everyone was given a copy of the report.

Unfinished Business
  • Governor William O’Neil Performing Arts Gazebo update
This project is on schedule.  Timbers will be delivered to the site in the third week of August.  It will be constructed then.  There is a grand opening planned for June 1, 2013.
  • Airline Trail extension to Main Street update
This project is 95% complete at this time.
  • Survey for recreational needs
See communications.
  • Gazebo use policies and procedures
Nothing further at this time.
  •  STEAP Grant
We assisted Epoch Arts in writing a STEAP Grant for a new roof for their building.  They are a non-profit organization  and are eligible for this grant.  However, the state prefers that towns administer these grants.
  • Summer programs
Ruth Plummer and Shawn Mullen gave a report on the status of summer programing.

New Business
  • Potential properties for Parks
There is some interest at the council level to find locations for a dog park and community gardens.  The dog park could be located on the small parcel of land at the bottom of Walnut Avenue.  When time allows Ruth Plummer will meet with the Town Manager on possibilities for community gardens.
  • Inland Wetland watercourse appointment
Ruth Plummer has been appointed.
  • Tie a yellow ribbon – honoring veterans
Nothing further at this time.
  • Sears Park improvement project – storm water runoff  remediation
This project will hopefully begin in September.
  • Village Center beautification
We have been working closely with the Friends of the Village Center to help in their efforts.
