Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting

Present Board Members:  Chairperson; Rich Norkun, Vice Chairperson; John Wright, Deb Mckinney, Tim Adams, Dan Roy, Mark Vickery.
Also Present:  Director; Ruth Plummer, Program Coordinator; Shawn Mullen

Call To Order:  Rich Norkun called to order the June 5, 2012 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  

Approval of the minutes of the May 1, 2012 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board:  Dan Roy motioned to approve the minutes.  Tim Adams seconded the motion.  All approved (6-0).    

Audience of Citizens:  None

Communications
  • Pavilion Rental Approval
Reed Rental – Rich Norkun motioned not to approve this request.  The event is too large to accommodate on a weekend during the summer season.  Deb McKinney seconded the motion.  All approved (6-0).  
Toce Rental – Rich Norkun motioned to approve the request.  Dan Roy seconded the motion.  All approved (6-0).  
Hurt Rental – Dan Roy motioned to approve the request.  Deb Mckinney seconded the motion All approved (6-0).  
  • Pavilion Rental Form Approval
Rich Norkun motioned to approve the form.  Mark Vickery seconded the motion.  All approved (6-0).  

Director’s Report:  Ruth Plummer made a Power Point presentation on Parks and Recreation status.  

Unfinished Business
  • Governor William O’Neil Performing Arts Gazebo update
The construction is currently a little behind schedule.  Mid-August is the outlook for completion of the project.  
  • AirLine Trail extension to Main Street update  
The project is about 3 weeks away from completion.  
  • Survey for recreational needs
Nothing further at this time.  This will remain on the agenda for the next meeting.  
  • Gazebo use policies and procedures
Nothing further at this time.   

New Business    
  •  Summer Season
Ruth Plummer gave a report on preparation for the summer season.  
  • S.T.E.A.P. Grant  
There is another grant round coming soon.  Ruth Plummer will be assisting with the grant process.  The grant will hopefully be for Epoch arts and the Village Center.

Nothing further at this time.
