Present Board Members:  Chairperson; Rich Norkun, Vice Chairperson; Tim Csere, Len Heroux, John Wright, Daniel Roy, Tim Adams.  Also present:  Town Council Liaison; Scott Minnick, Lake Commission Liaison; John Ciriello, Director; Ruth Plummer, Program Coordinator; Shawn Mullen

Call To Order:  
Rich Norkun called the April 7, 2009 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to order.   

Approval of the minutes of March 3, 2009:  
Tim Csere motioned to approve the minutes of the March 3, 2009 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  Len Heroux seconded.  All approved (6-0).   

Audience of Citizens:  
None  

Communications:  
  • Letter from Ruth Plummer to Jeff O’Keefe regarding Loos Pond
The letter was discussed and everyone has a copy

Director’s Report:  
Ruth Plummer gave her director’s report.  The new Parks and Recreation maintenance staff has been doing a great job in preparation for the spring and summer.  The water at Sears Park will be turned on next week.  Mowing will begin next week as well.  The Parks and Recreation Spring and Summer brochure will be available on Monday.  

Unfinished Business :  
a. Phosphorous education
Ruth Plummer passed out documents that included the flyers on invasive weeds to be handed out with Sears Park Stickers.  There will also be a stencil with a warning about this stenciled on the boat launch.  
b. Master plan for Sears Park update  
2 Workshops have been planned, April 16 and April 30 at 6:00PM.  The conceptual drawings of the Sears Park Master Plan will be unveiled then.  
c.  Sears Park Boat Launch, Presentation by Chief of Police Matthew Reimondo
Matthew Reimondo was unable to attend this meeting.  However Rich Norkun gave a report on his behalf.  The Chief was in favor of leaving the boat launch gate open as we have in the past.  There was a suggestion for more signage at the park to indicate residence only.  
  • Haller Property
Nothing further at this time

New Business:

Other Concerns:  
  • Recycle Bin at Sears Park
Ruth Plummer will look into getting a recyclables container for Sears Park
  • Skate Park Committee
The Skate Park Committee wants to again have the temporary skate park located at Center School.  Town Council will handle this matter.  
  • Travel Basketball Program  
A discussion was brought up about the possibilities of a Travel Basketball Program for East Hampton.  It was determined that a program like this would not be feasible with the staff and gym space that the town has.
