  • Business
It was mentioned that there are fewer businesses in the Village Center this year than last.

Items discussed were possible short-term relocation of vendors for the season, tree decorating contest, skating rink involvement (Colchester puts up a temporary rink every year), using the Board of Education parking lot for tree contest.

Lights in the trees, Santa in Fire truck, closing one of the streets, tree and business decorating (contests), wreaths, scavenger hunt, Epoch Arts participating with some sort of entertainment, hand chimers, gingerbread house making (the day before the parade), other community group involvement, flyer to be handed out at Pumpkin Town letting people know what else is in Town, were also discussed.

Ms. Fontaine will contact Paul’s and Sandy’s Too regarding a flyer.

(Town Manager O’Keefe arrived)

Mr. O’Keefe discussed the sign that will be placed at Rte. 66 and Main Street.  Town is waiting on DOT approval.  Also mentioned was that the project at Rte. 196 and Rte 66 is shovel-ready and waiting to be funded in the coming years.

Store front landowners will be asked if they would be willing to allow a temporary business in Town for the season.  Also discussed would be a location for after the holiday festivities for families (Santa pictures, cider, etc.)

Town Manager O’Keefe has put $1500 in the budget for holiday decorations for this year.  He will talk to Rotary and Board of Education regarding skating rink.

Monica Kangley will talk to Goff House Board regarding having people in after the parade, pictures with Santa; and VFW regarding changing the order of events for that day.

Mr. Schrager will talk to Darren and Jason.  He will contact other landowners.

Chair Leone will contact the Congregational Church regarding having craft items in the basement.   Town Manager O’Keefe suggested that he also contact the ecumenical consortium.

Mr. O’Keefe will talk to Public Works regarding making the power connection between the tree at the Congregational Church and the Gazebo a more permanent one.

Mr. O’Keefe mentioned that Bevin Bell will contribute the bells so that all the kids can check in and put bells on their shoes and do a “jingle run” to welcome Santa in.

A flyer or sign will be put up on the bulletin board at Shaws listing holiday events.

Chair Leone will circulate a spreadsheet with all events, responsible party, etc.

(Town Manager O’Keefe left the meeting)
