MINUTES
Present: ~Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero, Vice Chairperson Mary Jo Shafer, Commission Members Sue Greeno (arrived at 3:15 p.m.) and Ann McLaughlin and Alternate Patricia Dufour.~Also present: Senior Center Director Jo Ann Ewing and Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois.
Call to Order:
Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. at the East Hampton Senior Center.
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to add Transportation under New Business. Voted (4-0).
Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2012 meeting as written. ~Voted (4-0).
Public Remarks:
Town Manager, Michael Maniscalco, introduced himself to the Commission.
Correspondence: ~
Ms. DelFavero received information related to the Stop & Shop draft letter requesting a food discount rather than a gas discount. She talked with a representative from End Hunger Connecticut who will be getting a contact from a food security agency with a connection to Stop & Shop.
Senior Services Report: ~Ms. Ewing was not present at the meeting as she was on vacation.

Ms. McLaughlin noted that the transportation issue is a statewide problem and will require more research.

Emergency Preparedness Update:
The Commission discussed additional signups for the alert system during Medicare signup in October and other gatherings.
Senior Survey:
No new information at this time.
Comcast Update:
The Commission discussed the research into a Comcast discount. It was suggested that Commission on Aging members attend a meeting of the Northern Middlesex County Cable TV Advisory Board meeting.
Housing Authority Report: ~
Judie Bobbi, Executive Director of the Housing Authority, reported the following:
- Renters rebate has concluded
- They are still looking for funding for the roofs
- The shovel ready project for congregate housing is still on hold
Public Remarks:
Nelson Maurice, Mallard Cove, is very happy with the Commission on Aging and the work being done.
Adjournment:
A motion was made by Ms. Shafer, seconded by Ms. Greeno, to adjourn the meeting at 3:55 p.m. Voted (5-0).
