MINUTES

Present: Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero, Vice Chairperson Mary Jo Shafer, Commission Members Sue Greeno, Ann McLaughlin and Robert Petell and Alternate Patricia Dufour. ~Also present: Senior Center Director Jo Ann Ewing and Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois.

Call to Order:
Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to approve the minutes of the October 13, 2011 meeting as written. Voted (3-0-2) Ms. Greeno and Mr. Petell abstained as they were not yet a part of the Commission at that time.

New Business:  
Welcome New Members
Ms. Delfavero welcomed new members Sue Greeno, Robert Petell and Patricia Dufour.  Each new member provided an overview on their background.

Approval of 2012 Meeting Dates
A motion was made by Ms. Shafer, seconded by Ms. Greeno, to approve the 2012 meeting dates as presented.  Voted (5-0).

Old Business:
Yellow Dot/TRIAD:
A preliminary meeting on the Yellow Dot program was held.  Additional training still needs to be done.

Ms. Shafer suggested that the Commission on Aging have a banner or board for events.  Ms. DelFavero will work on this.

Emergency Preparedness Update:
Ms. Ewing is working with the representative from Everbridge to get the system up and running for use for the seniors.

Ms. DelFavero discussed an idea proposed by Ms. Ewing that a member of the Commission on Aging should attend Town Council meetings to see if any issues impact seniors.  The following tentative schedule was discussed:  January 10th Ms. DelFavero, January 24th Ms. Shafer, February 14th Mr. Petell, February 28th Ms. McLaughlin.  More dates will be discussed at future meetings.

Housing Authority Report:
Ms. McLaughlin reported that the roof has been repaired and tree work still needs to be done.  Eagle Scouts have finished work on patios at Chatham Acres and are still working at Bellwood Court.  The no solicitation policy is being discussed by the Housing Authority.

Senior Services Report:
Ms. Ewing reported that the building renovations are moving forward.  The Senior Center holiday lunch will be held on December 21st.  Energy assistance is ongoing.  Ms. Ewing is pursuing a grant for an additional vehicle for the Senior Center.

Public Remarks:
Nelson Maurice, Mallard Cove, commented that he is glad the Commission is full again.

Adjournment:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to adjourn the meeting at 4:15 p.m.  Voted (5-0).
