MINUTES

Present: ~Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero, Vice Chairperson Mary Jo Shafer and Commission Member Ann McLaughlin. ~Also present: Senior Center Director Jo Ann Ewing and Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois.

Call to Order:
Chairperson Cynthia DelFavero called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.

Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to approve the minutes of the July 14, 2011 meeting as written. ~Voted (3-0).

Correspondence: ~None

New Business:  None

Old Business:
Yellow Dot/TRIAD:
Jodi Brazal from the Housing Authority is still working on the program.  She will keep the Commission updated.

Brochure Samples:
Ms. DelFavero provided a new paper stock for the brochure which worked out well.  Ms. Sirois will print the brochures as needed for the Commission.

Emergency Preparedness Update:
The Commission discussed categories that would be included on the form for the Everbridge system information.

Facebook:
No update at this time.

AARP Program:
Ms. DelFavero went to a training seminar for the woman to woman program.  She thought this seminar could be added to the list of seminars sponsored by the Commission on Aging.

The September seminar is scheduled for September 22nd at 1:00 p.m. – location to be determined.

Ms. McLaughlin will contact Terry Concannon from Laurel Ridge regarding the October seminar.

Housing Authority Report: ~
Ms. McLaughlin reported that CL&P will be supplying new refrigerators to the apartments.  The weatherization program is still in progress.  There was discussion of the Housing Authority purchasing the old senior center van.

Senior Services Report: ~
Ms. Ewing provided an update on the Senior Center renovation progress.  The programs at the church are doing well.  The picnic at Sears Park will be held on August 22nd at 11:00 a.m.  There will be a mobile mammography clinic for women over 40 on September 20th and 21st.  There will be a program on September 12th to celebrate National Senior Center Month.  The flu clinic will be held on September 26th – 8:30 am to 9:00 am for employees, 9:00 am to 11:00 am for seniors and 11:00 am to 11:30am for employees.

Adjournment:
A motion was made by Ms. McLaughlin, seconded by Ms. Shafer, to adjourn the meeting at 4:20 p.m.  Voted (3-0).
