Volunteer Incentive Committee Meeting
Meeting minutes Nov 10, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm by Ron Masters.
Present were: Mike Balf, Jim Barton, Cal Meyers, Dave Lockwood, Dan Schnobrich & Ron Masters
Absent were: Marie DeSousa & Gil Hayes
Minutes of the meeting of Oct 27 were reviewed. A motion was made by Dan Schnobrich and 2nd by Cal Meyers to approve the minutes as written.
Ron masters advised the committee that he had spoken to the First selectman about proposed changes to the Volunteer Incentive program. The committee will be included in the agenda of the Selectmen’s meeting of Nov 18 to bring a proposal before the Board. A copy of an article describing HR3648, a bill passed by the House and Senate, which prohibits the federal government from taxing benefits provided to volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel was provided to the first selectman for review as well.
The committee discussed the possibility of making improvements to the Volunteer Incentive Program. A motion was made by Dave Lockwood and seconded by Jim Barton to change the program as follows:
Section II Compensation
A Officers
Change the officer’s yearly compensation as follows:
Fire Chief from $700.00 to $1400.00
Asst. Fire Chief from $600.00 to $1200.00
Deputy Fire Chief from $500.00 to $1000.00
Captain from $350.00 to $700.00
Lieutenant from$250.00 to $500.00
B Emergency calls
Change the Emergency call pay out from $10.00 per call to $12.00 per call
D Company drills
Change the pay per drill from $10.00 per drill to $12.00 per drill
The motion to make these changes to the program passed unanimously.
These proposed changes will be provided to the Board of Selectmen for their review ASAP.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
