Meeting Minutes
Attended: Gil Hayes – Co-chair, Ron Masters – Co-chair, Bill Dove, Dan Schnobrich, Dave Lockwood, Mike Balf, Cal Meyers – BB Chief, Jim Barton- WHP Chief
The Meeting was called to order at 7:07 pm a t the Broad Brook Fire Hall. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed. MSC by Cal Meyers and Jim Barton.
The department chiefs provided the following data from the quarter ending March 30, 2007.
Broad Brook FD $22,808
Warehouse Point FD 14,590
Warehouse Point Officers 3,500
Total for Quarter $40,898
Although this information has yet to be submitted to the treasurer’s office, both departments feel that the numbers will not change significantly. This means that total expenditures for the year should be approximately $172,000 against a budget of $180,000.
Gil Hayes reported that although the committee has requested an increase for the coming year, the budget request approved by the Board of Finance continues as a “status quo” budget of $180,000.
Chief Meyers told the committee that the Broad Brook department lost a few members which resulted in a somewhat lower training expenditure for the last quarter.
Chief Barton indicated that he expects NYMS training to be expanded during the fiscal year. The committee agreed that if this training is truly mandated, then it should be brought to the Board of Selectman and Finance as separate item for consideration. Both departments will put together an estimate of extraordinary federal compliance training for fiscal ‘07/’08.
Chief Meyer provided the committee with a summary of the various types of incidents the BBFD covered during the last quarter. There were a total of 96 incidents for the quarter which fell into 25 categories.
The next meeting will be in about two weeks, if needed, to review the training estimates to be put together by each department.
