REPORTS:
Ron Masters provided the committee with second and third quarter data provided by Chief Jim Barton of Warehouse Point Fire Department. Jim was unable to attend the meeting. Chief Barton also provided a monthly summary of station calls for Warehouse Point Fire Department by type for the calendar year 2006. The data showed a third quarter total expenditures of $15,821.00 minus officers pay.
Broad Brook Fire Chief Cal Myers provided the committee with third quarter expenditures for the Broad Brook Fire Department. They totaled $27,401.00. Chief Myers noted that $2,000.00 of that total was for National Incident Management Training (NIMS), which was mandated by the town.
The volunteer incentive expenditures continue to track very close to the budget. Chief Myers noted that total calls are down somewhat due in part to a quiet hurricane season and a warmer that normal December and January.
NEW BUSINESS:
The committee discussed the budget request for the next fiscal year. Based on the operations thus far this fiscal year, and the fact that the town continues to add housing particularly in the Windsorville and Melrose areas, the committee proposed an increase in the budget of $18,000.00. Ron Masters will prepare a proposal to be presented to the Board of Selectmen no later than February 12, 2007.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Broad Brook Fire House; however, special meetings to review budget details may be necessary.
Motion: to adjourn at 8:35 p.m.
