EAST WINDSOR VETERANS COMMISSION
MINUTES
for
Thursday, April 6, 2006
OPENING:
Warren Wenz, Chairman, opened this meeting at 7:00 P.M. at the East Windsor Town Hall. There were eleven commission members in attendance: Warren Wenz, Ron Hwalek, Dave Malo, Rick Webster, Fred McDermott, John Lichatz, George Butenkoff, James Barton, William Abbe Sr., Ken Crouch, and Don Brown. Daniel Webster was also present as a guest.
Absent: Ernie Teixeira, Mark Simmons, and Linda Roberts
Chairman Warren Wenz led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: The recorded minutes of the March 10, 2006, meeting were reviewed by those present. It was noted that the March 10, 2006, meeting day was Friday and not Thursday as recorded.
MOTION: George Butenkoff moved to accept the meeting’s minutes as corrected. This was seconded by Ron Hwalek and carried unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Ron Hwalek reported that the “Revolving Fund” balance was approximately $2,900.00 and the “Trust Fund” balance was $28,000.00.
MOTION: George Butenkoff moved to accept the Treasurer’s report. This was seconded by Fred McDermott and carried unanimously.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony Committee-
Fred McDermott requested help in placing parade line-up signs along the parade route. Jim Barton offered his assistance. The members present agreed to place the cemetery flags before Memorial Day weekend not later than May 20th, 2006.
Warren Wenz said that he would look into the purchase of sandwiches and soft drinks for the after parade refreshments.
Memorial Day Poster/Essay Contest Committee-
Warren Wenz said that he had placed articles in three newspapers given details of the poster/essay contest with the new adult category noted.
Scholarship Committee-
No report.
Veterans Cemetery Project-
No report
Veterans Day Road Race Committee-
No report
OTHER BUSINESS:
The members present agreed to have an exhibit of our “Beacon Lights” at the “East Windsor Community Day” on May 13, 2006.
Dan Webster updated the Commission on his Eagle Scout project identifying and mapping East Windsor Veterans’ graves. Discussion followed on the options and costs for the flag holders needed for this project. George Butenkoff offered to contact our State Representative regarding this.

ADJOURNMENT
Hearing of no further business to come before the commission, Chairman Warren Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn. George Butenkoff moved to adjourn this meeting and a second was made by Fred McDermott. The motion carried unanimously. The Chairman closed the meeting at 8:00 P.M.
