EAST WINDSOR VETERANS COMMISSION
MINUTES
for
Thursday, November 3, 2005

OPENING:
Warren Wenz, Chairman, opened this meeting at 7:00 P.M. at the East Windsor Town Hall.  There were eight commission members in attendance: Warren Wenz, Ernie Teixeira, Ron Hwalek, James Barton, George Butenkoff, Rick Webster, Ken Crouch, and Mark Simmons.   
Absent:  Fred McDermott, John Lichatz, William Abbe Sr., Dave Malo, and Linda Roberts

Chairman Warren Wenz led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: The recorded minutes of the October 6, 2005, meeting were reviewed by those present.
         MOTION: Ron Hwalek moved to accept the meeting’s minutes as submitted.  This was seconded by Jim Barton and carried unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Ron Hwalek submitted the treasurer’s report and answered commission members’ questions.  
        Ron reported that to date we have received $8,270.00 in cash donations from local sponsors for our annual 5K Veterans Day Race. Also received in “in kind” donations was $3,482.00.  The commission members expressed gratitude to our chairman, Warren Wenz, for his tireless work in promoting sponsorship donations.
        
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony Committee-
        No report

Memorial Day Poster/Essay Contest Committee-
        No report

Scholarship Committee-
        No report

Veterans Cemetery Project-
           A proposed landscape design blueprint for our cemetery was made available for those present to review.  The commission decided to review the plans in detail at our next meeting.                                                           
                                                                                
Veterans Day Road Race Committee-
        Our 6th annual 5K road race is scheduled for Saturday morning, November 12th, 2005.  
        Rick Webster, Race Day Coordinator, and the commission discussed all aspects of our annual race day event.  All tasks appear to be on schedule.  Warren ask the secretary to mail a reminder of our race day planning meeting on Friday 11/11/05 to all commission members.

OTHER BUSINESS:
        Warren Wenz read a letter received from Phill Godeck offering his resignation from the East Windsor Veterans Commission.  Warren will give Phill Godeck’s resignation letter to the Town Clerk for proper filing.
        
Warren reminded those present that our race day planning meeting will be held:

ADJOURNMENT

        Hearing of no further business to come before the commission, Chairman Warren Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn.  George Butenkoff moved to adjourn this meeting and a second was made by Ernie Teixeira.  The motion carried unanimously.  The Chairman closed the meeting at 7:30 P.M.
