Scantic River Park in Enfield getting “greenway”, area covered from Somersville to Hazardville. With this status came a grant of $5,000.
At SRWA meeting, land trust members pointed out that the key part of any grant should include how it “benefits fishermen”. A fisherman’s trail helped secure the award. New group is forming: CT Waterways Trails Association, with training seminars on applying for grants forthcoming. There are plans to remove Springborn Dam above Powder Hollow. Enfield activity eventually will benefit East Windsor section of Scantic.
