MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 21, 2008 MEETING

Call To Order: 7:10 PM
WELCOME: A town resident attended, showing interest particularly in the Scantic River and its uses. Chair gave an orientation of the Commission’s charge, and past activities.
MINUTES: Reviewed - After attending the FOI meeting in early February, the Chair corrected the minutes to show it was a meeting since no quorum was needed unless a motion is made / accepted.
UNFINISHED BUSINEES:
a. “Mansions at Canyon Ridge” (formerly Mansions on Scantic) – As soon as the mud
lessens, we will be able to go and walk that area of the river.
b. East Windsor River Guide /SRWA Guides – It was noted that these are on sale at the
local bookstore in Broad Brook.
c. Canoe Trips on Scantic – What is needed is a “duck” boat for use cutting and clearing
the trees lying in the Scantic River.
d. Flood (River) Review – Definitely flooded at this time.
e. Trail Markers – Nothing new.
f. Membership – Hope guest becomes a member.
OLD BUSINESS:
a. Budget was submitted for next year, after letter to First Select.
b. FOI workshop attended and info gathered.
NEW BUSINESS:
a. New Liasion from the Board of Selectmen is Ed Farrell.
b. SRWA events, calendar were discussed and info will be forwarded to members.
c. Also copies of previous correspondence with that Board were passed around, with intention of being presented to new First Select to see what effort will be made to act upon past research and suggestions of this Commission.
