MINUTES OF OCTOBER 18, 2007 MEETING

Unfinished Business
a. “Mansions at Canyon Ridge”(formerly Mansions on Scantic) – Phone calls made to Sumner Chapman. Easement, originally granted 2/5/07, confirmed.
b. River Guides – Available through SWRA
c. Canoe trips on Scantic – Dick Sherman and volunteers went down the Scantic and helped cut up logs that are in the way. Will try for a test run if weather and/or schedule allow.
d. Flood (River Review) – Still on hold.
e. Trail Markers – Waiting for leaves to drop.
f. New Members – Member Tom Tyrer remarked about his possible departure from
Commission because of upcoming vacation time away from the area. He was asked to consider staying on board and making what meetings he could.
Old Business
a. Source to Sea Clean-up – Approximately 15-18 bags of trans and 4 tires were
removed from the banks of the Connecticut River and the Scantic River in Melrose. Volunteers numbered approximately 10 in total.
New Business
a. Scantic River Watershed Association is looking for volunteers to be River Stewards. Commission as a whole agreed to be such for the section of the Scantic that runs through East Windsor.
b. Purchase of Bopka Property. After the elections, the new Board of Selectmen
Will be approached re the old decision on the purchase of this property.
