Call To Order: 7:05 PM
Minutes of September 21, 2006 meeting: Reviewed, corrected as to receipt of grant to complete purchase of property on Rye Street, then accepted.
Welcome to Debbie and Tom Talamini, who were interested in the work of the Commission. They gave their background of enjoying canoeing and hoping to learn more of the progress on the clearing of the Scantic River.
Unfinished Business
Mansions on Scantic: More land has been purchased so there may be some progress on this development.
Mission Statement & Master Plan: Copy will be provided to Mr. & Mrs. Talamini. Copy sent to newest member, Janice Warren.
EW River Guide: Copy of the guide produced by SRWA was shown and some will be purchased as references until the EW Guide is completed.
Canoe Trips on Scantic: Canoe trips discussed as to snags and need for flat end boat to use when cutting away downed trees.
Flood (River Review): River has not been revisited since August.
Trail Markers: Offers to place markers was made by the Talamini’s.
New Members: Perhaps we have some interest in membership.
Old Business
a. Property on Rye Street near Plantation Road - Town awaiting grant to complete purchase.
b. Source to Sea cleanup rid the banks of the Scantic and Connecticut Rivers in our Town of over 20 bags of trash, a bicycle and other metal pipes.
New Business
Wicket Bridge Road identified and discussed further, as well as exchanges of ideas for use by residents of the various resources within the Town.
