FEBRUARY 20, 2009 - SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
EAST WINDSOR POLICE COMMISSION
OPENING:
The East Windsor Police Commission held a Special Meeting on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the East Windsor Police Department for the purpose of conducting interviews and 2009-2010 budget updates.
Chairman Cliff Nelson was unable to attend; therefore, Linda Sinsigallo filled in as Acting Chairman for this meeting.
Linda Sinsigallo called the Special Meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. with the following Commissioners present: Lorraine Devanney, Richard Sherman and Joseph Sauerhoefer. Also in attendance, were Chief Edward Demarco and Deputy Chief Roger Hart.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
A. An executive session was not necessary due to the fact that interviews were postponed at this time. The new date and time to be announced as soon as the timing will allow.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. BUDGET UPDATE: The 2009-2010 budget was reviewed line item by line item from beginning to end highlighting the revisions made since the last Police Commission meeting.
The biggest change proposed by the Chief and Deputy Chief was the combining of the Police Department budget with the Animal Control budget into one budget.
It was felt that with the retirement of the Animal Control Officer and the economic times being what they are, it would be fiscally prudent to combine both budgets and propose two part-time Animal Control Officers instead of one full time and one part time Officer.
The Chief explained that overall with the combined budgets, the total increase would be 0.65%. After reviewing the entire revised budgets combined into one, the Commission agreed to send this proposed budget onto the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen for presentation and approval.
MOTION: Lorraine Devanney made a motion to submit the revised combined Police Department/Animal Control Budget to the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen for presentation and approval. Seconded by Joseph Sauerhoefer. In Favor: Devanney, Sherman, Sauerhoefer and Sinsigallo. Unanimously approved.
