ELDERLY COMMISSION MEETING
January 9, 2006 at 11:30 am

Meeting Minutes of January 9, 2006:

I.      Attendance:  
Present:  Claire Badstubner (Chairman), H. Stuart Woodard  
Absent: Cheryl Littlefield, Catherine Drouin (Vice-Chairman), Karen Boutin, Elizabeth Burns (Municipal Agent)


II.     NO REGULAR MEETING DUE TO LACK OF QUORUM


III.    Ms. Badstubner will reconfirm with the members (at the January 23, 2006 meeting) that the current meeting day and time is still agreeable with everyone.


IV.     Chairman presented a brief, informal update to attending committee member regarding the Tax Credit/Relief presentation at the Board of Selectman 12/6/05 meeting.  Chairman states that herself, Carol Madore (Tax Assessor) and Elizabeth Burns attended 12/6/05 BOS meeting.  Board did ask a few questions regarding the Local Tax Relief/Tax Credit memorandum/packet.  An overview of the Tax Relief segment of their meeting can be found on the BOS’ 12/6/05 meeting minutes, Section IX, subsection B.  A motion was made and carried to keep the Tax Relief issue on the BOS agenda for the January, 2006 meeting.  

Ms. Badstubner also shared an editorial she found in the Hartford Courant, 12/29/05 regarding the East Windsor Tax Relief/Credit:
“…Selectman and Board of Finance should give this idea serious review as a proposed ordinance and consider passing it on to a town meeting for approval….”
              
Regarding the issue of cell phones for the elderly (as on the agenda), Mr. Woodard offered to approach the Lions to see if there would be an interest in taking on this project.  Ms. Badstubner also suggesting the boy scouts.
                
        
V.      Adjournment

12:00pm, Chairman Badstubner dismissed today’s attendees and confirmed there is no official meeting today, due to lack of quorum.
