I. ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM

A quorum of 4 voting members was not established. An informal discussion took place with no Motions/Votes.
Eric Moffett, a new member to the Commission was introduced. The members in attendance provided their background history and interest in serving on this board.
Final details were discussed for the upcoming dinner to be held on November 9, 2005 for new and expanded businesses. The guest speaker will be Oz Griebel, Executive Director-MetroHartford Alliance. The President of the Chamber of Commerce is Nichole Maloney, who will provide opening and closing remarks.
Copies of the “Economic Development Action Agenda” were provided to the new members in their packets. This document was prepared in April 2004, by a consulting service that provided a list of items for the EDC to focus on over the next 3 to 5 years. Mr. Moffett commented on the value of this document and implementing it to promote economic development.
Jim Richards discussed events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, i.e., Career Day and Community Day. He also noted that there is a video contest among high school students working on producing a video about the town. This may provide a valuable marketing tool for the town when completed. Cox Cable Communications has hired a representative as a liaison for the town’s community calendar.
A brief discussion proceeded regarding the potential of Broad Brook—the need to expand economic development to promote interest and visitors-further noting the possibility of extending the trolley rail line to the center. Also, the Village District potential as recommended in the Plan of Development.
