Chair Weinberg called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.

Dial-A-Ride and ADA Transportation Services
Councillor Aberasturia spoke on the fees charged by surrounding towns. He is concerned on the burden placed on the taxpayers. He believes that people are coming to East Hartford for this transportation service. Additionally, Councillor Aberasturia thanked the Town Council Clerk for compiling the information regarding the fees charged by surrounding towns. He added her work will be very helpful as we continue to research what will be in the best interests of East Hartford as a whole.
Ms. Beaulieu talked about how much money it could cost her if the fees are increased – even when she volunteers. Mayor Leclerc suggested the use of a voucher for volunteer work. Council Morrison was curious about an annual fee. Councillor Harmon wanted to know what possible choices are available to the public. Ted Fravel talked about what Chair Kehoe said on booklets. Ms. Beaulieu mentioned how she is involved in volunteer work and meeting. Sometimes she only needs a ride one way to the meeting; other times both ways. She uses the transportation for volunteer work.
The Mayor suggested that Ted Fravel inquire of other town’s policies for dial-a-Ride and ADA transportation services. She also suggested that a swipe card system could be implemented to keep accurate count of the number of individuals using Dial-A-Ride and/or ADA services. Those cards would cost approximately $10 each.
