& Disposition Committee meeting.

Raymond Library Lease
Assistant Corporation Counsel Rich Gentile initiated a general discussion of the museum pieces
to be on display at the library and the lease of the library. The lease is for 99 years at $1.00 per year
and is very consistent with the current lease which it replaces. Councillor Thompson discussed the
purchase by the town of a parcel or parcels of real estate on Central Avenue for use by the library, and
Attorney Gentile explained that about two years ago the Town Council authorized the conveyance of
28 and 36 Central Avenue to the library.
MOTION By Bill Horan
seconded by Eric Thompson
that this Committee recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town
to enter into a 99-year lease with the Raymond Library Company of East
Hartford ant the Village Improvement Society of East Hartford for the use of
840 Main Street, and associated parking, as the Town’s Public Library, and
given the Town’s current historical use and control of said premises as the
Town’s library, waive the Real Estate Acquisition requirements set forth in
§10-18 (b) of the East Hartford Code of Ordinances.
