NEW BUSINESS

113 Tolland Street Rear

Wally Inkpen, Deputy Assessor, spoke about a paper street that the town abandoned in the mid 1980’s.  At that time, all abutting property owners were deeded part of the street for no consideration.  For some reason, the property behind 113-115 Tolland Street was never conveyed.  Adding this small parcel to 113-115 Tolland Street would raise the assessment by roughly $1,000.00. Rich Gentile, Assistant Corporation Counsel, will write to abutting property owners to see if there is any interest in obtaining this parcel for no consideration.

OLD BUSINESS

Update - Sale of 9 Montague Circle

Attorney Gentile discussed conversations he had with the owners of 21 Montague Circle for the purchase of 9 Montague Circle property.

MOTION  By Bill Horan
                seconded by Eric Thompson
that the Real Estate Acquisition & Disposition Committee notify
Marlene Schaeffer that it will not accept her offer to purchase
9 Montague Circle for the sum of $100.00 and ask the Mayor to
have town crews clean and clear the property as soon as the
weather permits.
Motion carried 3/0.

Acquisition of 3 Saunders Street

Assistant Corporation Counsel Rich Gentile reported that, after last month’s Real Estate
meeting, he had several discussions with the owner.  The owner has agreed to sell the
property for $150,000.00 which amount is consistent with the $150,000 value shown in the
January 18, 2011 Real Estate subcommittee meeting minutes. Purchase money will come
from LoCIP funds.  Based upon the agreed price, the Committee again made the
following motion:

3 Saunders Street

MOTION  By Bill Horan
                seconded by Eric Thompson
that the Real Estate Acquisition & Disposition Committee
recommend to the full Town Council that the Town of East Hartford
purchase the property known as 3 Saunders Street for the sum of
$150,000.00, subject to receipt of C.G.S. §8-24 approval from the
town’s Planning and Zoning Commission and the execution of a

Corporation Counsel which contract contains an environmental
