APPROVAL OF MINUTES

July 1, 2010

MOTION  By Eric Thompson
                seconded by Linda Russo
to approve the minutes of the July 1, 2010 Real Estate Acquisition &
Disposition Committee meeting.
Motion carried 2/0.

OPPORTUNITY FOR RESIDENTS TO SPEAK

Marlene Schaeffer, the owner of the property at 21 Montague Circle, spoke about the condition of the abutting property at 9 Montague Circle.  She would like the town to clean it up and she would consider purchasing the property from the town for a reasonable price.

MOTION  By Eric Thompson
                seconded by Linda Russo
to take item 4.B. “Sale of 9 Montague Circle” out of order to
                accommodate those present.
                Motion carried 2/0.

NEW BUSINESS

Sale of 9 Montague Circle

Mayor Currey suggested that she negotiate the sale of 9 Montague Circle with the abutting property owners, or if negotiations are not successful, that the property goes out to bid via a Request for Proposal (RFP).

MOTION  By Bill Horan
                seconded by Eric Thompson
to authorize the Administration to negotiate with the owners of the
property abutting 9 Montague Circle to purchase said parcel and to
report back to this Committee with the results of the negotiations.
Motion carried 3/0.

At this point, the Committee returned to the order of the agenda.

Acquisition of 54, 56 and 68 North Meadow Lane

Assistant Corporation Counsel Rich Gentile initiated a general discussion of the history on the property.  The owners inherited the property and are now interested in giving the property to the town.  The town could possibly use two of the parcels as a path to the river.  Attorney Gentile suggested that he obtain prices for the cost of conducting environmental testing on the site and discuss this with the owners to see if they will pay for phase I of the environmental study.  Attorney Gentile will report back to this Committee with the results of that discussion.

Acquisition of 3 Saunders Street

The owner of the property again approached the Mayor to inquire on the town purchasing 3 Saunders Street.  Since the appraisal is not recent, the town will need to obtain an updated appraisal of the property.

MOTION  By Bill Horan
                seconded by Eric Thompson
to authorize the Administration to obtain an appraisal of the property
located at 3 Saunders Street for the possible acquisition of the
property and to report back to this Committee with the results of that
appraisal.
Motion carried 3/0.

ADJOURNMENT

MOTION  By Eric Thompson
                seconded by Bill Horan
                to adjourn (6:05 p.m.)
