CALL TO ORDER
Chair Kehoe called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. He announced the exit locations in
accordance with Connecticut General Statutes § 29-381, after which the Council joined him
in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Chair gave a brief overview of the Mayor’s recommended 2008-2009 budget.
The following citizens came forth to speak on the proposed 2008-2009 budget:
Jon Searles, 51 Spaulding Circle, had several questions on the budgetary process.
Bruce Gaudette, 22 Higbie Drive, supports the renovations to Town Hall to make it more handicapped accessible. Mr. Gaudette is also Chair of the Commission on Persons with Disabilities.
Debbie Gaudette, 22 Higbie Drive, commented on the following: (1) supports renovating Town Hall to make it more handicapped accessible and more user friendly; (2) is in favor of allowing the residents one day a year to utilize the landfill for free; (3) hopes the Council uses restraint in revenues allotted to the Board of Education; (4) suggested that raises for Directors and non-union personnel be uniform; (5) believes that there should be a public hearing on the Council's budget, not just on the Mayor's recommended budget. Ms. Gaudette is also the Chair of the Commission on Aging.
Debra Arrieta, 6 Sunset Ridge Drive, believes that the budget proposed by the Mayor is fair.
