PATRIOTIC COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING

April 15, 2009


Chairperson Margaret Byrnes called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:24 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room of the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


PRESENT:        Margaret Byrnes, Albert Doak, Charles Clarke, Vincent Parys, Bernard Corona.

ABSENT: Elaine Carey, Melodi Wilson.

EXCUSED:        Paul Barry, Patricia Begley, Richard Begley, Victoria Brinius

ALSO PRESENT:   Linda Carrasquillo, nominee, Robin Parys, Clerk.

OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:

None.


APPROVAL OF MINUTES:


MOTION:  Minutes of March 18, 2009 not approved
         due to an  insufficient quorum.        


CORRESPONDENCE: Commissioner Byrnes stated that the responses for the 2009 Memorial Day Parade participants are arriving.


BILLS: Clerk presented bill for March and April.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Tabled as Commissioner Byrnes will inquire to see if the flags have been paid for and received.


OLD BUSINESS:  Veteran’s gravestone power washing placed on hold.  Boy Scout Troop has a new project.  Commissioner Parys left several messages with the trophy provider for the Flag Day awards.  Awaiting a response.


NEW BUSINESS: Veteran’s Day Parade will be run by a new company.  They and Commissioner Byrnes will assure that the Veteran’s will be at the front of the parade.
