PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
April 20, 2011
A quorum being present, Chairperson Margaret Byrnes called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:20 p.m. in the second floor conference room in the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Margaret Byrnes, Charles Clarke, Bernard Corona, Edward Dettore, Vincent Parys, Eugene Pushefski, Susan Tukey, Melodie Wilson.
Excused: Patricia Begley, Richard Begley.
ABSENT: Paul Barry, Linda Carrasquillo.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A quorum being present, Commissioner Vincent Parys motioned that the March 16, 2011 minutes be approved. Commissioner Edward Dettore, 2nd.

BILLS: Chairperson Margaret Byrnes presented the following bills for payment: Office Supplies; Commissioner Charles motioned for payment, Commissioner Susan Tukey 2nd. 2500 envelopes $188.00; Commissioner Vincent Parys motioned for payment, Commissioner Charles Clarke 2nd. Safety vests $207.93; Commissioner Edward Dettore motioned for payment, Commissioner Eugene Pushefski 2nd. Cemetery Flags $4065.00; Commissioner Edward Dettore motioned for payment, Commissioner Vincent Parys 2nd.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Budget balance is $7200.00
UNFINISHED/OLD/ BUSINESS: DeSopo Funeral Home has paid for the chemicals for the cleaning of the Veteran’s headstones. A thank you letter will be sent to Mr. Lionel Desopo. The cleaning performed by the Town of East Hartford Public Works Employees should be completed before Memorial Day. 20ll Flag Day Essay Contest letters have been sent out to all the schools. Press releases for volunteers for the placement of the Memorial Day Flags will be sent out two weeks prior to the Parade. Press releases inviting all affiliated and non affiliated Veterans to participate in the Parade will also be sent.
