PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
November 17, 2010
A quorum being present, Chairperson Margaret Byrnes called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:20 p.m. in the second floor conference room in the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Margaret Byrnes, Charles Clarke, Bernard Corona, Edward Dettore, Vincent Parys, Susan Tukey.
ABSENT: Melodie Wilson.
EXCUSED: Paul Barry, Patricia Begley, Richard Begley, Linda Carrasquillo.
ALSO PRESENT: Robin E. Parys, Clerk.
OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Vincent Parys made the motion to accept the minutes of the October 20 meeting. 2nd by Commissioner Bernard Corona.
MOTION: Passed.
CORRESPONDENCE: Motion by Commissioner Vincent Parys to e-mail monthly meeting minutes to Commission members and provide hard copies at the meetings. 2nd by Commissioner Charles Clarke.
MOTION: Passed.
BILLS: Motion made by Commissioner Charles Clarke to pay the clerk. 2nd by Commissioner Susan Tukey.
MOTION: Passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Chairperson Margaret Byrnes will report to Commission at January 19, 2011 meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Dedication Ceremony for Staff Sgt. Richard Ford at Bicentennial Square will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
Commissioner Vincent Parys suggested that Safety Vests be worn by Commission Members so they could be easily identified as parade staff for the Memorial Day Parade. He will research the cost of the vests. Commissioner Parys will also check on the division signs for the parade and with the current Flag vendor regarding a discount price for the purchase of 2011 Flags.
NEW BUSINESS: Chairperson Margaret Byrnes distributed 2010 Holiday Fest sign up sheets. Commissioner Vincent Parys will inquire about utilizing the old recycle bins for collections.
Commissioner Charles Clarke will research and contact Chairperson Margaret Byrnes regarding Wreaths Across America (December 11).
Miscellaneous: Motion by Commissioner Vincent Parys to cancel the December 15 meeting. 2nd by Commissioner Charles Clarke.
