Library Board
Minutes of the October 21, 2013 Meeting
Present: Rose Tavtigian, Debra Arrieta, Mary Mourey, Sally Pelletier; Florence Schroeter; Gloria Visgilio-Lupi, Susan Hansen, and Charles Casella.
Absent: Todney Harris and Anthony Foran
Guest: Mary Martin
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:31 pm.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the September 16, 2013 meeting were approved.
Librarian’s Report:
- Susan Hansen reported that the Bookmobile made its “maiden voyage” to the “Fall Fest” and was well received by the community. New library cards were issued, cards were renewed, voter registration forms were completed, and children participated in a Bookmobile coloring page craft.
- The budget for the next fiscal year was reviewed and Susan shared her assessment of the current budget and her views for an improved budget for next year.
- The Raymond Library will close on Nov 2, 2013, the move to the EHCCC will begin on Nov 4, 2013, and library services at EHCCC are scheduled to begin on Nov 7, 2013.
Chairman’s Report:
The chairman was pleased to yield to Ms. Mary Martin, Raymond Library Expansion Project Administrator. Mary informed the Board of the current status of the project. Mary noted that 10 bids were received and that W.J. Mountford of South Windsor is the apparent low bidder. The architects have reviewed Mountford’ s bid, as well as their previous performance on other library projects, and are satisfied that all is in order. Final negotiation and execution of a contract is on schedule to be completed in the next few weeks. Construction will begin within ten (10) days of the contract approval and should be completed within 425 days.

The November 18, 2013 meeting will be held at the Cultural Community Center in the Doris Suessman Room. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm and the public is invited.
