MINUTES FOR THE
INLAND WETLANDS - ENVIRONMENT COMMISSION OF
THE TOWN OF EAST HARTFORD

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM in the Town Hall Council Chambers, East
        Hartford Town Hall.

Also present: Denise Horan, Town Engineer

Chairman Shanahan appointed Alt. Cmsr. John Morrision and Alt. Cmsr. Jeffrey Currey voting members.

Cmsr. Mary Dowden arrived at 7:35 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Cmsr. Reik moved to APPROVE the June 23rd, 2009 regular meeting.

OLD BUSINESS
A)File # 2009-008
           Application of Subby Magro, to conduct a regulated activity within the Inland Wetlands buffer zone in conjunction with the construction of a single-family house located at No. 163 Hills Street, subdivision lot # 2, Magro Subdivision. Other modifications to the site include the installation of underground utilities, driveway, and associated grading.

Denise Horan, Town Engineer, read a letter on behalf of the applicant to withdraw the
application.

Application of Kleinfelder East, Inc., to conduct a regulated activity within the Inland Wetlands buffer zone in conjunction with demolition of the former Mobil gas station, located at No. 1083 Burnside Ave. Other modifications to the site include the removal of impacted soils, and associated grading with the restoration of the site.  

Denise Horan, Town Engineer, read a letter requesting the application to be postponed to the 9.22.09 meeting.

Cmsr. Carr and Cmsr. Dowden made note of some concerns they had regarding the application.

NEW BUSINESS

A) File # 2009-019
Application of The Metropolitan District, to conduct a regulated activity within the Inland Wetlands Buffer zone in conjunction with the repair of a 36-inch transmission main, located in the rear of 61 Floradale Dr.

Cmsr. Carr moved to RECEIVE the application
Cmsr. Dowden seconded
All in Favor, None Opposed, No Abstentions

The Commission did not deem this a significant activity

Cmsr. Carr moved to TABLE the application to the next regular meeting 9.22.09

B) File # 2009-020
        Application of Antonio Carreiro, to conduct a regulated activity within the Inland Wetlands Buffer Zone in conjunction with the expansion of farming activities, other modification include 2 wetlands crossing and associated grading.

The Commission did not deem this a significant activity

Denise Horan, Town Engineer, wanted the Commission to make note of the Soil Science report regarding a previous application.
