A Regular Meeting of the East Hartford Economic Development Commission was called to order at 6:03 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 by Commissioner Marilyn Pet, Chair.

- Quarterly Report – Business Visitation
- Sofrito Puerto Rico would be open to a visitation once the operation is up and running
b International Arts Bazaar – Collaboration between Chamber and EDC
- Goodwin College would like to assist with planning for next year’s event
ii Ms. Webb suggested a sub-committee be formed with members from Goodwin College, EH Chamber of Commerce, EDC, and the EH Fine Arts Commission
c Restaurant Guide
- Ms. Beckles did not receive the anticipated response from local restaurants and will begin cold calling to verify information
d Development – Incentive Housing Zone
- OPM has given the “go ahead”, as the funding has been put in place to perform a demographic and economic analysis of East Hartford to develop a housing incentive zone
- NEDA Awards – Marketing Materials
- Ms. Beckles reported that the EH brochure was awarded “Superior – Best in Class”, and the EHWorks website was recognized as “Excellent”
- Business Fair – September 17 at Town Hall – Group Tour of Town Hall
- 15 firms will be on hand to assist small businesses in town with the mayor having one-on-one meetings and EDC Commissioners will be giving tours of town departments
- Community Economic Development Fund – Main Street Improvement Program – OPEN DISCUSSION
- Donna Wartenbach, CEO of CEDF was on hand to discuss their future involvement with the town.
(1) EH has been picked to be 1 of 3 targeted communities in the state
(2) Alta Lash, with assistance from her students at Trinity College, will be going door-to-door to survey the businesses and residents to set a plan which will be ready by the end of December
ii Ms. Webb will invite Ms. Lash to our regularly scheduled meetings for an update on their progress
