Selectmen's Minutes 08/05/08
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, August 5, 2008 at 7:35 p.m.


Present: Peter A. Hamilton, Clerk; Theresa McNulty

           Karen Grabau, Adm. Assistant


Not Present:  David L. Walsh, Chairman

                   George Samia, Town Administrator


Mr. Hamilton noted that Mr. Walsh would not be present this evening and as previously voted, he would assume position of Chairman and Mrs. McNulty the position of Clerk for the evening.


M/McNulty, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, move to approve the minutes of the July 22, 2008 meeting.


M/McNulty, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, move to approve the request of Colleen Beltramini of the New England Society of Paranormal Investigators for permission to enter the Town Hall on August 16, 2008 to conduct Electronic Voice Phenomena work for approximately 1-2 hours.


M/McNulty, s/Hamilton, for purpose of discussion, move to approve the request of Heather McNeil for use of the Sachem Rock Farm on September 7, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. for a Christening.


Mrs. McNulty noted that Mrs. McNeil grew up in East Bridgewater and there is a memorial garden at the Farm for her sister.


VOTE: Yes – Hamilton, McNulty; a unanimous vote in favor.


M/McNulty, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, move to approve awarding the contract for construction of a 40X60 ft. utility storage building for the DPW based on the recommendation of the Director of Public Works to C.A. Rollins Corp of East Bridgewater in the amount of $86,000.00.


M/McNulty, s/Hamilton, a unanimous vote, move that the maximum useful life of the departmental equipment listed below to be financed with the proceeds of the $671,000 borrowing authorized by the votes of the Town passed May 19, 2008 (Article 14 & 15) is hereby determined pursuant to G.L. c.44 S. 7 (9) to be as follows:

Mrs. McNulty reported that the first concert on the Common was being held this evening and that additional concerts would be held on August 12 and 19 and the new Nim movie on August 14.


Mr. Hamilton noted that the 10th Annual Business Expo would be held on September 6.


Mrs. McNulty noted a recent article on energy costs and savings. Noted that the Friends of Seniors would be holding a Walk on September 13, with all donations going to assist seniors with fuel costs. Also noted that they will be continuing the Coins for the Community drive again this year.

OPEN FORUM

One resident was present and noted that he was there to listen to discussion regarding Power Plant.


Mr. Hamilton noted that the schedule appointment for 7:35 p.m. was not here, who had planned to discuss power plant.


Mr. Hamilton noted that W.B. Selectmen Matt Albanese had asked to meet with the Board to discuss power plant issues. Will invite him to our August 19 meeting.


Mrs. McNulty noted that the Conservation Commission has requested the Board of Health to look into health issues.


Resident noted that the Brockton City Council will have a presentation by the power plant on August 18 and the Brockton Conservation Commission will hold 2nd meeting on August 19.
