The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, December 11, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.

APPOINTMENT
Members of the Christmas Parade Ad Hoc Committee met with the Board and gave a final report on the Parade on December 1, 2007.
Members of the Committee present were: Robert Packer, Chairman; Lynn Silva, Clerk; Linda Fowler; Tim Fowler.
Mr. Packer reviewed the parade; noted the donation from East Bridgewater Savings; came in under budget; 8 volunteers came forward on day of parade and several would like to go on committee. Next year will be 25th year for Parade and would like to make this a special parade.
Discussion was held regarding different funding ideas, type of committee, etc. Board stated they would look at best way to set up committee, check with Town Counsel on legal issues and set up a meeting with committee at a later date.
Board offered their thanks to the committee members for their work on the parade and for stepping forward and taking on the task of putting together parade in short time frame. Congratulated committee on a job well done.
DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Claire Yocum, Chairman of the Conservation Commission presented an update on her Committee. Noted that they are working on various filings including septic repair and new construction; working with DPW on a check-off forms for construction; Kim Eldridge has been in office for year.
A discussion was held regarding turning existing Lounge into Conservations Office and existing Conservation Office into a Conference Room. Will allow conservation to hold meeting in Conference Room next to their office; room would be available for other committees to meet; would create a large meeting room; have volunteers who will remove sink and cabinets; only cost would be for painting rooms.
Mrs. McNulty noted that there is no contractual problems with changing lounge; room available for anyone to have lunch in Planning/Building area.
Mrs. Yocum stated that they are still looking for member for the Open Space Committee; need 7 members; letters of interest to Selectmen’s Office. Explained mission of Committee.
DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Members of the Library Trustees, Susan Murray, Fred Chapman, Jane Haines and James Weidenfeller and Library Director, Manny Leite met with the Board and presented an update on Library services.
Mrs. Murray noted that they are reviewing and updating policies for use of Library; explained that due to Bridgewater losing accreditation, they cannot longer allow Bridgewater residents to borrow books.

It was noted that Jane Finley has left as Library Director and Many Liete, the new Director, was introduced. Mr. Leite thanked the Library staff and department heads for their welcome and assistance as he started his job. Explained his background and noted that he plans to look to the future of the Library; encouraged residents to visit Library and discuss with him their ideas regarding the Library and its functions.
