Selectmen's Minutes 5/22/07
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, May 22, 2007 at 7:35 p.m.

 

Present:             Theresa McNulty, Chairman; David Walsh, Clerk

George Samia, Town Administrator; Catherine Johnson, Senior Clerk

 

M/Walsh, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the minutes of the May 8, 2007 meeting.

 

M/Walsh, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Maureen Vardaro of Boy Scout Troop 29 for use of the Town Hall parking lot on Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a Bottle Drive.

 

M/Walsh, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Dianne Kennedy Warkel of the E.B. Business Association for use of the Town Common on Saturday, September 8, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Annual Expo & Family Fun Day.

 

M/Walsh, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Susan M. Hartman of Hartman House Antiques to place a sign in front of the Town Common for the Annual Antiques on the Common Show being held on June 2, 2007.

 

Town Administrator Report

 

Mailed in list of projects from various departments to Representative Allen McCarthy’s office, per his request, to be submitted for consideration in the State Capitalization Project Fund.

 

Spoke with two citizens today regarding the Brockton Power Plant, suspects more calls will be forthcoming and will contact our State Representative and Senators for information.

 

Reminders

 

May 28 – Memorial Day – Town Hall closed

   Ceremonies on Common

 

School Committee Meeting – Thursday, May 24th, regarding the feasibility study for school renovations and/or the need for a new school.

 

Pending Renewals of Appointments

 

Renewal letters to go out by the end of May, residents urged to return these forms as soon as possible.

 

Ms. McNulty stated that the Board received the resignation of Sally Feeney, of the Finance Committee, and James Weidenfeller, of the Library Trustees, accepted the resignations, with regret, and further stated that the Board will need to fill these positions, and urged any resident interested to send a letter of interest to the Board of Selectmen’s office.

Mr. Walsh informed the Board and residents of a meeting he attended in Weymouth given by Congressman Delehunt regarding energy resource alternatives.  Mr. Walsh

stated that he is interested in contacting Congressman Lynch to request a similar seminar in town, and further stated that there are many alternative energy resources and cost efficiencies and would like to find out what options are available to our citizens.

 

Ms. McNulty stated that she will instruct Mr. Samia to set up appointments with Department Heads to come in to update the Board and the citizens on the operations within their offices.
