The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, May 29, 2007 at 7:43 p.m.
Present: Theresa McNulty, Chairman; Peter Hamilton, Clerk, pro-tem
George Samia, Town Administrator;
Catherine Johnson, Senior Clerk
Mrs. McNulty thanked everyone who came out for the Memorial Day ceremony and thanked all those who have served and who are serving presently.
Action Items
Action Item #1 – Passed over
M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, after a brief explanation, approved the request of the Town Administrator to authorize him to sign the warrant when circumstances make it impractical or impossible for a majority of the Board to sign the warrant, provided there is no unusual, significant expenditure on the warrant and provided further that the Board, at its next meeting, ratify the warrant which he executed on their behalf.
Announcements
Mrs. McNulty announced that the Board of Selectmen are beginning an “Employee of the Year” and a “Volunteer of the Year” awards program for employees and volunteers who are nominated for going above and beyond their day to day jobs and duties to the Town.
Mr. Hamilton thanked Mr. Samia, Mike Power, Aide to Representative McCarthy and Representative Allen McCarthy for their efforts in attempting to retrieve funds for capital projects needed in the Town. Mr. Hamilton explained that Mr. Samia, Representative McCarthy and Mike Power were instrumental in collecting and submitting a list of projects for consideration to the state for any money that may become available to cities and towns.
Mr. Hamilton reiterated Mrs. McNulty’s statement on the great job the parties did at the Memorial Day ceremony. Mr. Hamilton thanked Ms. McNulty for a great speech, as well as Charlie Gilbert,
American Legion President and Representative Allen McCarthy and thanked Russ of EBCTV, for a great job videotaping the event, and the E.B. High School Band for their performances.
