DUXBURY HISTORICAL COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
Date: April 15, 2003
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Lower Level Conference Room, Town Hall
Present: Nicki Kispert, Nancy Bennett, Martha Himes and Jody Hall
Call to Order: 7:10 PM
Reading of Minutes: Ms. Kispert moved the minutes of March 20, 2003 be accepted. Ms. Bennett seconded. Motion passed 4 in favor, 0 opposed.
Open Forum: Nothing was presented.
Demolition Applications: 290 Enterprise Street. Ms. Kispert moved we allow demolition of the living area and breezeway located at 290 Enterprise St. Ms. Himes seconded. Motion carried 4 in favor, 0 opposed.
The Historical Commission received two memos from the Department of Inspectional Services regarding the demolition of 24 Chestnut Street. There is some concern about the poor communication that appears to be ongoing between the DIS and the Commission regarding demolition applications. This needs to be addressed.
Inventory: The contract for the final phase of the survey was signed with Karen Davis on April 14, 2003. She began work on April 14, 2003.
Miscellaneous: Diane Bartlett of the CPA is taking a Community Preservation course in Boston. She has suggested Robert Kuehn of the Keene Development Corporation to come and speak at a joint meeting of the Historical Commission and the CPA to talk about creative affordable housing. She will contact Ms. Himes.
A possible article for the Clipper was suggested. It would focus on the effect “mcmansions” built on tear downs have on the neighboring properties.
LHDSC: Tabled Discussion
Deliverables: Ms. Hall will draft policies regarding definition of “substantial” and limiting validity of permits.
