Meeting Minutes – Thursday May 11, 2006
A meeting of the Duxbury Bay Management Commission was held at the Duxbury Senior Center at 7 pm. In attendance:
Duxbury Bay Management Commission (DBMC): John Carnuccio, Chair, Kathy Ahern Gould, Jack Kent, Ned Lawson, Jon Nash, Secretary, Julie Waltz. Missing were Shawn Dahlen, Skip Bennett and Don Gunster, but a quorum was reached.
Other Guests:
Paul Malo of Bay Rider Services
I. VOTED: To accept the previous minutes from February as written.
II. Paul Malo of Bay Rider Services
Proposal 1: To place six (6) transient moorings in the channel dogleg between N12 and N14 (see attached memo of May 2, 2006 from Paul Malo to Selectmen’s Office).
Questions were raised re congestion, sailboats, rowing shells, and general traffic safety concerns.
Mr. Malo described his moorings as intended for boats greater than 25’ in length. These would be classified as private moorings, and revenue collected from their use would be his to collect. He also sees his proposal as a means for making it easier for transient boaters to gain access.
Proposal 2: To place an ice machine near the Harbormaster’s office.
III. Moorings
Issue re Late fees for delinquent mooring fees.
IV. Safety/No Wake Areas
Memo from David Lowry precipitated this discussion.
Boating safety is an issue that needs to be brought up perhaps this fall.
V. Herring Run
Contractor approved, and process is moving ahead. Should begin in ~ month.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Jon Nash
Secretary
