DUXBURY BAY MANAGEMENT COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes of January 12, 2006
In attendance: John Carnuccio (Chair), Shawn Dahlen, Kathy Ahern Gould, Ned Lawson, Jon Nash (Secretary), Don Beers, (Ex Officio)
Absent: Skip Bennett, Don Gunster, Jack Kent, Julie Waltz
1. Revised Mooring Rules
Refer to memo: “Revised Moorings Rules and Regulations” dated 1/11/06 from DBMC to Duxbury BOS.
1. Town Office will be moving forward to assume clerical management of the mooring program. Processes and procedures vastly streamlined.
2. Ned Lawson brought to the attention a quantity of edits. All discussed.
3. John Carnuccio thanked Don Beers and his dept for all their hard work
4. Final Rules & Regs to be presented to BOS for Approval on 1/30 at 7:40 pm. *** All members of DBMC are encouraged to attend ***
2. Shellfish Task Force
Mike Hickey, Chief Biologist from DMF to discuss the issue of grant transfers on Wednesday, January 18 at 7 pm in the Senior Center. Don Beers invites DBMC as well as BOS. Don will post meeting notice.
3. Conservation Commission Proposals
1. Pier Proposal: Peter & Catherine Dryoff, 27 Elderberry Lane. Notice of Intent received by DBMC 1/12/06.
- suggest moving side stairs off marsh area
- suggest make removing phragmities conditional on approval
2. Pier Proposal: Paul & Phyllis Gleason, 27 Beechwood Lane (off Bay Road). Notice of intent received by DBMC 1/12/06. Pier.
- suggest moving side stairs off marsh area
A general discussion followed the review of the above piers with some members expressing their concern over the steady stream of pier requests and the long term impact on the aesthetics of the Bay. Others argued that aesthetics are very subjective.
All agreed that the Conservation Commission should strongly encourage the use of neighborhood piers.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:45 pm.
