Duxbury Bay Management Commission

Meeting Minutes – Thursday, August 25, 2005

A meeting of the Duxbury Bay Management Commission was held at the Duxbury Senior Center at 7 pm.  

In attendance:

Duxbury Bay Management Commission (DBMC): John Carnuccio, Chair, Skip Bennett, Shawn Dahlen, Kathy Ahern Gould, Don Gunster, Jon Nash, Secretary, Julie Waltz.  Missing were Jack Kent and Ned Lawson, but a quorum was reached.

Other Guests:
Shellfish Advisory Committee (SAC): Alan Hoban, Acting Chairman, John Brawley
Concerned Citizens:                       Mark Bouthillier, Peter Evans


VOTED: John Carnuccio proposed that we finalize, copy and distribute the Duxbury Bay Management Study Committee’s final proposal (in notebook form) to the BOS.  All present voted in favor. Don Gunster will lead this effort.

VOTED: Shawn Dahlen proposed that we unanimously support the ConCom’s application to the CZM for funds to assist in their implementation of a Coastal Non-point Source Pollution analysis.  All present voted in favor.  Shawn Dahlen will draft a letter indicating our support.

I. Task Force 1 – Island Creek Herring Run Task Force
Jon McGrath gave an update on the task force meeting held this evening from 6-7 pm.
·       General update on the past bidders.
·       Expressed interest in reconvening technical committee
·       Bob Fultz has amended his contract for the purpose of casting net more widely for funding.
Next steps:
·       Circulate interviews with technical committee and look for ways to simplify the project.

II. Task Force 2 – New Shellfish Grant Moratorium
Shawn Dahlen reported on the meeting held this evening from 6-7 pm.
·       SAC discussed application packets with Don Beers
·       Andre Martecchini has asked the DBMC to review applications and report back to the BOS.  Copies of application packets have been presented to individual DBMC members.
·       How should we review applications?  We need to develop a format to systematically review and assess the applications.
·       Alan Hoban on schedule for meeting with BOS Monday evening, August 29.



III. Mattakeesett Court Boat Landing
No news on this project.


There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm
