The Conservation Commission held a meeting in the Mural Room, Lower Level of Town Hall on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members present were Chairman Friend Weiler, Samuel Butcher, Brendan Halligan, Barbara Kelley, Joseph Messina, and Arthur Vautrain. Thomas Gill was absent.
CONT’D. PH, DUXBURY CONSTRUCTION CO., 80 SEABURY POINT RD., SE 181263
Ms. Kelley made a motion to issue the Orders of Conditions for SE 18-1263. A vote (6 – 0) was taken and the motion passed.
CANDIDATES FOR CONSERVATION COMMISSION
The Commission interviewed four candidates for the upcoming vacancies on the Commission.
LONG POINT MARINE
Dwight Smith from Long Point Marine and Paul Brogna from Seacoast Engineering Co. discussed an emergency bulkhead repair. Scope of work will include excavating behind a 50-foot section of the bulkhead wall to stabilize the bulkhead wall. Mr. Butcher made a motion that was seconded in accordance with section 9.1.8, the Conservation Commission has declared for the safety of the citizens of Duxbury an emergency situation is in effect at the bulkhead at Long Point Marine and permits the applicant to perform a reasonable amount of work to stabilize the area. A vote (6 – 0) was taken and the motion passed.
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
The Commission reviewed expenditures from the Conservation Fund. Mr. Butcher made a motion that was seconded to expend from the Conservation Fund $76 for copies and $624 for legal services from Town Counsel. A vote (6 – 0) was taken and the motion passed.
The Commission signed the Certificate of Vote for the Keene Street (Harris) parcel.
The Commission reviewed the request for the Barney Memorial by the Duxbury Beach Reservation, Inc. Mr. Butcher made a motion that was seconded to approve the request of DBR, Inc., contingent on the use of compatible beach sand material for the construction of the Edward Barnard Memorial. A vote (6 – 0) was taken and the motion passed.
