Community Preservation Committee Meeting
Thursday, September 11, 2008

The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) held a meeting in the Mural Room, Lower Level of the Town Hall on Thursday, September 11, 2008 beginning at 8:00 a.m.  Members present included Chairman Holly Morris, John Bear, Lynne Devnew, Tony Kelso, and Pat Loring.  Brendan Keohan and Sarianna Seewald were absent.  Also present was Joe Grady, Conservation Administrator.

PUBLIC FORUM
No subject was brought forth.

PUBLICITY
The CPC discussed the next articles to be written for the Duxbury Clipper. Mr. Bear volunteered to do an article on the Wright Building; Mr. Kelso – the Bluefish River Firehouse; Dr. Devnew – the Alden House and King Caesar House projects; and Ms. Morris – Land Acquisitions.

2009 FUNDING APPLICATIONS
War Memorial Restoration – The CPC began its initial discussion on the proposal submitted by the War Memorial Committee.  The funding request was for $105,000. It was suggested that the War Memorial Committee should also investigate private fundraising in order that the project not need to be funded 100% by the CPC.

Mr. Bear made a motion that was seconded by Ms. Loring.
        Motion:  that the CPC act on all CPC funding applications by its meeting on December 4, 2008.
        Vote:  5 – in favor; 0 – opposed.  Motion passed.

PROJECT UPDATES
No new information was reported.

OTHER BUSINESS
Ms. Loring asked that Ms. Morris keep the CPC up-to-date on the Budget Committee meetings she attends.

ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
The CPC reviewed the draft minutes of the meeting on August 21, 2008.  Ms. Loring made a motion that was seconded by Mr. Kelso.
        Motion: to approve the minutes of the meeting on 8/21/2008 as presented.
        Vote:  4 – in favor; 0 – opposed; 1 – abstention (Morris).  Motion passed.
