Executive Session
Executive Session: Commissioner Jason made a Motion to go into Executive Session for possible litigation and not to reconvene. There was some discussion about going into Executive Session. Roll call vote was taken. Commissioners Jason, Collins, Sawyer, Carroll and Chairman Sibley voted Aye. Commissioner Flynn voted Nay. The Motion passed. Chairman Sibley Moved to invite Marsha Smolev and Ron Rappaport to be present at the Executive Session. Commissioner Jason Seconded the Motion. The Motion passed unanimously. The Commissioners went into Executive Session.
Commissioner Jason expressed his belief that the City of New Bedford has interfered with RFPs and that it is up to the County Commissioners and the citizens of the Island to speak up. Commissioner Jason made a Motion that the County ask Nantucket to join us in seeking legal counsel to find out if New Bedford has violated a Law regarding the RFP and to find out the Islands’ options. Commissioner Carroll Seconded the Motion.
There was discussion by the Commissioners, the County Manager and Ron Rappaport, County appointee to the SSA.
The Motion passed Unanimously. The County Commissioners asked County Manager Carol Borer to speak with the representative of Nantucket to inquire if that Island would like to be included. The matter remains in Executive Session until the time at a future meeting when this material will become public.
