Caregiver support group, Healthy Aging Task Force
Present: Mary Beth Daniels, Inez Janger, Ellen McCabe, Roberta Raimon, Beth Toomey, Rozetta Hughes, Stanley Schonbrun, Rob Hensley, Paddy Moore, Terre Young.
As we welcomed two new members, Rozetta and Stan and Paddy as guest, introductions started our meeting.
Per the agenda, our first work was to create regular meeting dates and times. We will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every monthly from 1:30 to 3:00. After the meeting, Inez and Terre reviewed the depth and length of information shared and decided to add an extra half hour to our meeting times with the hopes of having enough time for the exchange of information.
Summaries of gathered information were offered by the following: COA on the cape and islands; Beth: Barnstable County services, Ellen: Care Giver Homes of MA, Roberta: caregiver services on MV, Terre: and AARP offers, to be described at our next meeting by Mary Beth.
All of the information reported will be available via attachments in email and we realize we are at the beginning of an important exploration of support for caregivers.
We talked about who are client base is. How do we categorize them and get their numbers. Knowing the number of caregivers on island will not only support our work but also create statistics for future potentials for funding.
Our next meetingís work will continue with the above reports as well as review of the draft of the outline of our work plan, which is due to the coordinating committee by February 28th. The guidelines for the work plan are found in the December 3rd Template for organizing HATF work Groups.
Our next meeting will be February 12th at 1:30 in the hospice office.
