The regular monthly meeting of the Derry Conservation Commission was held on 27thJuly 2009, commencing at 7:30 PM, in the third floor meeting room of the Derry Municipal Center, with the M. Ives in the Chair and J. Arruda, R. Buzzanga, M. Page sitting for P.Dionne, P. Doolittle, B. Ferrante, P. Kinsella, E. Sarcione, and D. Wiley present.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and as corrected were approved unanimously, with B.Ferrante and M.Page abstaining. 5 - 2
CHAIRS REPORT
Ms. Ives asked Mr. Alex Hayes from Troop 412 to give us his presentation of the work he will be doing at Cole Marsh. He is replacing 2 bridges that are in rough condition. One bridge is 44ft.long and the other bridge is 10ft.long. This is a really big project and he hopes to start in late August and finish in late Sept. Mr. Hayes also wants to clean up the area from debris left from the December Ice storm. Mr. Hayes is working on his Eagle Scout Award. Mr. Hayes will be cleaning up the debris from the Damren Road entrance. The DCC voted unanimously to approve this work, with lots of Thanks. A motion was made by D. Wiley and seconded by B. Ferrante., to send a letter to Mr. Hayes.
DES Letter was received from DES. The letter was for removal of a seasonal dock at Taylor Brook Lane on Island Pond.
The next letter was from Mike Fowler, Town of Derry to replace a culvert. A. Chappell and R. Buzzanga will do a site walk there.
Town of Derry Departments and Boards received a letter from DOT about work to be done on Rt28 and Kilrea Rd... No impact. Site walks M. Ives, M. Page. Any questions will be addressed by both and reported back to DCC at the August meeting.
UNH Co-Op Ext sent brochures about protecting special habitats and we noted particularly the habitat protecting the cotton tail rabbit in southern NH. Dennis suggested that we display the brochures at Derryfest which the Commission in agreement.
CTAP Ms. Rachel Kelly from SNHPC and Mr. George Sioras from the Town of Deny told us that the open space plan will move forward to the Planning Board on 2nd Sept 2009. The final report on open space will be voted on at the next DCC meeting. After some discussion with the DCC members and Mr. Sioras and Ms.Kelly, it was thought that maybe some of the maps that have been used could also be displayed at Derry fest. Mr. Dennis Wiley spoke of this and it's a great idea. Thanks Dennis.
UPDATES: Conservation Land:
Broadview Farm. All is well in the gardens but all the rain has slowed the growing but it's still
going strong. There was a table that was destroyed. The police have a report from Mrs. Sarcione.

Ms.Ives spoke with Eric Bodenrader of Derry Parks and Recreation for suggestions on posting signs limiting hours at Broadview and on stating no drinking or littering. Ives also recommended only metal tables be used in the future as the wooden ones get destroyed too rapidly. Agreement on sign language limiting on site hours will be discussed at the next meeting.
COLE MARSH Dam will be completed hopefully by the first of September, weather permitting. HANNAH MARTIN The poison Ivy spraying is still in the works.
Charlie Moreno's forestry management plan is completed and is ready for discussion.
Mr. Dennis Wiley and Mrs. Ellie Sarcione completed 2 easement site walks on the Grinnell Farm and also the Gagnon/Pingree farm. Mr. Wiley is doing the paper work. Mr. Wiley also spoke of the new file folders that we need. A motion was made by E. Sarcione not to exceed $100.00 for the new folders and was seconded by M. Page. Motion carried unanimously. 7 — 0
There was no other business, so we went into non-public. Per RSA 91-A-(d) "Consideration of the acquisition, sale or lease of property, if discussed in public, would likely benefit a party or parties whose interests are adverse to those of the general community.
