Minutes, public meeting of 26Jan2009

On 26Jan2009, the Derry Conservation Commission met in the 3rd floor meeting room of the Derry Municipal Center.  The following members were present:  P. Dionne, M. Ives, J. Arruda, R. Buzzanga, B. Ferrante, D. Wiley, E. Sarcione, and alternates A. Chapple, M. Page, and P. Kinsella.

Approval of Minutes:

D. Wiley made a motion, seconded by R. Buzzanga, to accept the minutes of 12Jan2009 as amended.  All present voted in agreement.

Chairman’s report:

Chairman Dionne informed the Commission that he received the baseline documentation package for the Ferdinando easement off of English Range Road

Other Business:

Mathew Buttaro presented the details of his completed Eagle Scout project.  Mathew completed a new 1.2 mile hiking trail at the Cole Marsh Conservation area.  He also constructed a bench at a prominent overview.  D. Wiley made a motion, seconded by E. Sarcione, to accept the project as complete and to send a letter to Troop 402.  All present voted in agreement.

Chairman Dionne informed the Commission that he had met with Ed Boutin, Gary Stenhouse, and Neil Wetherbee concerning the timber trespassing issue with Kevin Shaheen at Weber Forest.  He requested that M. Ives contact DES and A. Chapple contact DRED (Dept of Economic Development) to initiate complaints against Mr. Shaheen.

Chairman Dionne introduced  Mr. George Sioras, Director of Derry’s Community Planning Department, to discuss CTAP’s request for an Open Space Plan.  Ms Ann Evans also joined the meeting for this discussion.  George gave a brief overview of CTAP’s request and the available funding before introducing Ms Rachel Kelley of CTAP.  Rachel  provided an Open Space Plan agenda containing a mission statement, scope,  and meeting subject matters.  It was decided that the DCC will meet with Rachel to develop the plan after their regularly scheduled meeting on the 4th Monday for the next 3 months and the final plan adoption meeting will be held on the 18th of May.  

Meeting adjourned
