Colchester Housing Authority Minutes 08/2009
The Colchester Housing Authority met on August 27, 2009 for its regularly scheduled monthly business meeting which was postponed from August 20, 2009 due to a scheduling conflict.  The following members were present:  Robert Gustafson, Executive Director, Janet LaBella, Chairperson, Mary Tomasi, Treasurer, Gerri DeSanto, Resident Services and Todd Vachon.  Deb Hartley, Resident Services Coordinator submitted her report in written form.  John Malsbenden, Selectman and Liaison for the Town of Colchester and Marion Spaulding could not attend due to previous commitments.  Janet LaBella called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.
 
The Secretary’s minutes were reviewed.  A motion was made by Gerri DeSanto to accept the July minutes, as submitted, motion seconded by Todd Vachon and unanimously accepted.
 
A motion was made by Mary Tomasi to accept the August Financial Report as submitted by the Executive Director; the motion was seconded by Todd Vachon and unanimously accepted.
 
PUBLIC COMMENTSno one from the public attended the meeting.
 
ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA - none.
 
COMMUNICATIONS
*      There is still no State budget and therefore no information regarding the approval of a Rental Assistance Program yet.
*      7/28/09 Rob has a visit from Cheryl Good, past CHA Chairperson, who is now the Asset Manager at CHFA.  Rob gave her a site visit and after reviewing things and taking the tour of the villages she said she is very proud to having a Housing Authority in her portfolio that she can be proud of!  Great job Rob!!!
*      8/17/09 Rob received a notice from CHFA that they have not received the latest financial statements yet.  Rob forwarded the notice to the accountant.
 
REPORT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
On July 28, 2009 Rob patched cement at Ponemah Village at the rear of the building
# 6 where the sidewalk leading to the door did not line up with the door and there was an incident with a resident trying to get a wheelchair out of the door onto the sidewalk.  Rob also report on the situation regarding the resident and her daughter from Dublin Unit # 32.  On the week that Rob was on vacation there were many episodes of domestic issues
 
 REPORT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - continued
and police called to the unit as well as an injury to the daughter.  This has been ongoing for months and Rob has picked up the file from our current attorney who is retiring and forwarded the file to Lou Coture for eviction processing.
 
REPORT OF TENANT COMMISSIONER
Gerri reported for the month: one Dublin Village resident was in the hospital and is now home; one Dublin Village is still in rehab; one Ponemah Village resident is in the hospital and two Ponemah Village residents had day surgery and are now at home doing well.
 
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - None
 
NEW BUSINESS
There is another sink hole, collapsing catch basin, at Dublin Village.  Rob has contacted the Colchester Highway Department to see if they will repair.

Mary Tomasi made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Todd Vachon.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm.
