MONTHLY OFFICERS MEETING
November 5, 2012

MEMBERS PRESENT: Chief Cox,  1AC McKenna, 2AC Knowles, Capt. Giudice, Capt. Jones, Capt. Barnes, Capt ‘Giudice, Eng. Babinueau, Lt Stepp, Lt Cwikla, Capt Rowland; Eng Rioux, Capt Gordon
Called to order:  1900 hours
Addition to Agenda: none
Approval of minutes:  The October Officer’s meeting minutes were read.   Motion to approve made to approve by 2ACKnowles, motion to accept 1AC McKenna.
Citizens Comments:  none
Public Service:  Voting day 11/6/12  :  dist. 1 town hall., dist 2 & 4– Abundant  Life- Skinner Rd, dist3 Bacon Academy.  All members are encouraged to exercise their right to vote.
1st Selectman memo of thanks for Hurricane Sandy response.
Budget Issues: storm documents being prepared, applications for per diem must be completed accurately.
Hydraulic tools going on next BOS agenda – 13th.  
Career Staff / Personnel:   union negotiations still on going. Thanks to all members of dept for staffing over storm, special thanks to Task Force, and for operating safely. Our thoughts go out to FF from Easton CT who lost his life while performing his duties.  Special thanks to auxiliary for storm, and structure fire on Chestnut Road.
Point audit – still keeping track. This will not affect fuel comp in December.
Tony Shut’s mom, Eric Hutchins’s mother in law, Billy Standish mother in hospital, Warren Bristol recovering from surgery.
Thanks for all those who helped /w Corinth VT FD, and Schuster Park concrete pad installation, etc.
Capt Jones – requesting all calls for fallen trees go to Kevin Kelly for immediate response.
Great job by town crews.
 
Training:  1AC McKenna – committee mtg. postponed till sometime in November. Had to cancel one mandatory protocol – to be reset sometime in November. Still need some live fire – propane burns, to be scheduled in Nov,  size up drill, ;  all completed training thru  Nov. has been entered. Corinth has not because it hasn’t gone thru committee yet.
Jan EMT /  EMR refreshers ; BA Football participation is included in training hrs but not in black book.
Captains:
Rescue – Capt. Joseph – absent
Fire Police – Capt. Jones – no report.  Chief – thanked Capt. Jones for bringing  re: container out. Cleaned up fire house. .
Safety – Capt. Rowland  -.  Structure fire – quick knock down at dangerous situation – went very well with limited amount of personnel.  Storm – 2512 line – if power is down we lose phone line.
Fire Capt. P. Giudice:-  ? job descriptions? – Still not complete. Can be reviewed shortly. Company 2 issues – no lights on outside of building, and walls still leaking. Tony G said to have been fixed.
Bunker Gear for this year to be ordered soon.
EMS – Capt Barnes –.11/17 BA football game needs EMT – 2 slots open;  re-stocking of trucks becoming an issue, all wool blankets have been left at hospital – have 0 on hand. Will have to be ordered.
Complaints EMS calendar has not been updated frequently enough. 1/1/13 will try using I AM RESPONDING for holding / tracking responders, points, - if not signed up prior to shift – won’t get points, Cost – no cost.
What is policy w/ O2 at shelters?– people are supposed to bring their own supplies.
A528 went to GEV N. Attleboro Ma. – high- idle fixed. Parking brake reset but error code remains. Should use wheel chocks with all apparatus.
ET 328 went to first line – pump gear skinner valve replaced
ET 128 – cleaned generator – to be reinstalled Tuesday 11/6/12
Res 128 – engine brake to be repaired
Chief Officers:
2nd AC Knowles: - issues w/ key fobs and key not working well. Tool room did not recognize fob. Strikers so old – wires are 20+ yrs old. worn out. 
After last months clean up the firehouse is getting messed up again. People are leaving stuff around.
Call logs are not being filled out completely.  Yellow sheet as well. OIC needs to sign.
1st AC McKenna:  - no report
DC Lee   - absent
Chief Cox: -.thanks to those who participate fire prevention week – Captain Rowland at schools, etc, Open house – not as well attended but we had great displays, etc here.
Frosty Fair this Sat.
Veterans Day – event on Sunday at 11:00 am
Cadet parents due next  Thurs.
Meetings for strategic plans for the dept. – 247 pgs of recommendations  - org structure, calls for service, NVFC, town demographics, S-W-O-T, base line assessment, objectives / goals, professional standards, recruitment / retention, apparatus, etc. KX Dispatch.
KX is looking into future sustainability (possible merger with other dispatch entity)
President Martin:  Monthly meeting – quarterly membership this Thurs., 11/8 – some new, some full membership votes.  Frosty Fair –Saturday; member orientation on Sunday – Christmas tree sales soon.
NFIRs computer down for now in bay. ET-228 plus crew x3 part of state hybrid task force –Hurricane Sandy.
