MONTHLY OFFICERS MEETING
MONDAY, October 11, 2010
 
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chief Walt Cox, Deputy Chief W. Standish, Asst. Chief Don Lee, Asst. Chief Ken McKenna, Capt. Paul Giudice, Capt. Royce Knowles, Capt. John. Jones, Lt. Chief Walt Cox called the meeting to order @ 0815 hrs.
Approval of minutes: The September Officers meeting minutes were read.  Motion to approve AC Don Lee; 2nd by AC Ken McKenna
Citizens Comments: None
Budget Issues:  Discussion on the proposed medical exam program [Tier I, Tier II, Tier III] and its impact on the budget and fire department members.  Information has been distributed.  Majority of fire department members are compliant with age group and discipline.  Focus will be on those who need medical exams immediately.
Career Staff / Personnel:  Kenneth McKenna III has been hired as the part-time replacement for FF Kuchyt.  FF McKenna was on the original hiring qualified candidate list.  Kenneth’s first day of employment was September 25, 2010.  The CHFD wishes him well in his new position.  Career staff full time shifts will continue in 16-hour format-no issues to report at this time.  Steve Morris has been approved for the duty officer program-all paper work is complete. Cadet Advisors Annamarie Cwikla and John Greenman have resigned from their positions.
Training:  On-line training will be closed for the year shortly.  AC McKenna will address all unresolved training documentation. Outside training documentation need to go before training committee for approval-deadline approaching.  EMS Hazmat class a success/ more Hazmat classes to be scheduled before end-of-year.  Driver qualifications should include in-house training [on-file].  CAFS #2 classroom training scheduled for 10/24. Live burn in Lebanon scheduled for 10/23.  Acquired structural buildings that will possibly become available for training:  ifo S&S Mill Street plus Norwich Ave, Lebanon Ave ifo Sunset Vista, and chicken coop [Baldi property].
EMS:  EMT/EMR refresher to start in-house 10/12
Captain’s Reports:
Rescue Capt. – emergency call paperwork still not being done in timely manner; drivers/personnel need to make sure all windows in apparatus are in the up position. 
Fire Police Capt-roundtable meeting scheduled for !0/13 1900hrs.
Safety Officer- safety committee scheduled for October
Fire Captain- presented Steve Morris Duty Officer paperwork; S-128 qualification discussion.
 Chief Officers: Discussion on use of Co1 HQ building for meetings and programs. Scheduling problems still exist [Company, Department, Community]-need to have equitable solution. Service-128 qualifications in process- working well as EMS/brush truck. Town to provide volunteers with town vehicle for scheduled training out-of-town. Used Hurst tools approved for purchase-$600.  New ET-228 Marion training/qualifications to continue. Iamrespoding.com trial program in process. Ladder 128 waterway repaired-recertified; Rescue 128 transmission serviced.
 Capstone UCONN program-organizational overview to begin-waiting for administrative approval. Thanks to all involved in outside improvements around firehouse-great job! Thanks to all for 57 Fest participation-NIMS/ICS training. Captain Rowland did outstanding job with Fire Prevention Week-thanks to all who participated in Open House 10/10.
President: Dave Martin out of state.  Thanks to all involved with D&D Hebron Fair fund raising.  November company meeting to host “Old Timers”.
